The Mazda Furai is not really like other cars. In fact, the sound of wind is louder than Concord, looks like a melted Batmobile and will top out at 160mph. Not bad for a one-off concept, it's no surprise that the Furai commands so much attention - it looks incredible and sounds even better.
Thanks to that incredible triple rotary engine, the concept will hammer to 60mph in 3.5 seconds and on to 160mph with Laguna Seca gearing (200mph is possible with a long straight). It’ll pull 3g on the brakes too.
Thanks to the UK being quite a small place full of people who might get upset about the noise the Furai makes, after pottering up and down the hill at Goodwood, its first run in anger was at Kemble Airfield this week.
After a few delays, thanks to the clutch busting on Sunday, the car finally ran on Tuesday morning up and down the runway at full chat. The best bit is we have the video to prove it.
